Quadriga Concepts expands with takeover of Metropolitan Stone

March 2005 brought about the purchase of Metropolitan Stone by Quadriga Concepts who specialise in building restoration and structural refurbishment. Metropolitan Stone, which is based in Redhill, Surrey, was started in 1979. The company hosts a number of services in stone restoration and preservation, which tie in perfectly with Quadrigas existing business which offers a number of services in stone and masonry supply, refurbishment and cleaning.

Metropolitan Stone, which is now a trading name of Quadriga, will be able to tender for work that may have previously been too large or complex for such a small company. With Quadriga’s large and directly employed workforce throughout the UK, both companies can benefit from this merge.

Metropolitan Stone has recently finished three projects in London involving vast amounts of stone installation and restoration techniques. One was for Gilmac Construction Services at 24-26 Buckle/Leman Street. This project took 6 months to complete and involved the design, supply and fixing of pre-cast Portland Stone. The second to be recently finished was for Kier Construction at 44-46 Great Marlboro Street in London.

This project took 12 months to complete and involved the design, supply and fixing of natural Portland Stone cladding. The third project was for Durkan Pudelek Ltd at 43 King Street in Covent Garden, London. This 18 month project involved the cleaning, using of JOS/DOFF cleaning methods, chemical cleaning poultice cleaning, brick restoration and the design, supply and fixing of both Portland portico and natural Portland stone treads and rises.

Metropolitan Stone's offices are in Redhill, Surrey where Quadriga’s regional London Office has also moved to. This move hopes to centralise both companies in the south to ensure that the two work closely together. Work has already started filtering through to Quadriga from Metropolitan Stone since the takeover which boads well for the future.
