Although increasing use is made of modern materials such as steel, plastic and concrete in construction, timber remains the most versatile. Today's requirements for loadings and resistance to decay have created a need to use modern technology to upgrade and preserve timber to maintain its enviable reputation.

Amongst the specialist skills offered are:

Preservation treatments

Used against fungal decay (dry and wet rot) and wood boring insects such as the Weevil and House Longhorn beetles.

Upgrading

Insertion of flitch plates or steel reinforcement into bressumer beams or purlins to strengthen and increase the load bearing capacity.

Shake Injection

Pinning and injection splits and shakes to improve fire resistance and rebound de-laminations to regain the original strength.

Epoxy Repairs

To repair decayed or damaged members to reintroduce original profiles and improve structural stability of distressed timbers and structures.

Traditional Repairs

Using timber of original type to splice / scarf in repairs or replace whole members.
