Scope of works:

• During a previous phase of concrete repair works to the school in 2010, it was discovered that there was extensive longitudinal dynamic fracturing along the lengths of integral gutter beam at eaves level.

• This was caused by the steel reinforcement within the depth of the gutter corroding and expanding: once cracked, the concrete allows seepage through the fracture and down to ground level.

• Using a combination of pinning with 6mm Helical bar reinforcement at 500mm centres, resin injection to re-bond the crack interface and, in places, complete re-casting of the gutter channel, we eventually reintroduced the integrity of the gutter detail and prevention of future water seepage and corrosion of the reinforcement.
