The Grade II listed Southport Town Hall building was constructed between 1852-1853 and designed by Thomas Withnell in Palladian style with its characteristic symmetry and clear influence from Ancient Greek and Roman orders. It originally operated as the headquarters of the County Borough of Southport.

Now, the site forms part of the Atkinson Art Gallery, which sits on the other side of Cambridge Arcade.  The arcade is home to a number of independent retailers and food and drink outlets and will remain open throughout the works

Works included:

  • Removal, reinstatement and replacement of original slate roof tiles.
  • Superheated steam clean to stone on the Lord Street façade.
  • Paint stripping before timber repairs were carried out.
  • Drainage improvements.
  • Replacement of aluminium beading and glazing to Cambridge Arcade.
  • Redecoration works.
