Survey Diagnosis and Proposal

After receiving a brief, we will often be asked to survey a structure or building to ascertain its current condition, its historic, architectural and structural characteristics and potential conservation or restoration requirements.

A crucial aspect of a survey is the identification of the structure’s evidential, historical, aesthetic and communal significance and its importance within local, regional and national contexts.  This assessment guides decisions about further works.  While conducting surveys, our experienced team consider the principles of conservation to ensure that unnecessary or inappropriate work which could negatively affect the structure is not carried out.

Surveys provide a solid foundation from which informed decisions can be made regarding conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse.

What happens following completion of a survey?

Upon completion of survey a report is prepared which will include specification, budget costings and carbon reduction recommendations. We have vast experience in the inspection of traditional buildings, and we are able to advise on the most suitable methods of repairing stone, terracotta, brick, timber and concrete.

Testimonial

“The clean at Faulkner House looks fantastic- a huge improvement and to my knowledge, we haven’t experienced anywhere near the levels of water ingress through the windows we were expecting.  Cracking job.”
