There’s something about a well-proportioned Victorian shopfront that modern replacements just don’t seem to capture.

Over the years, many have been altered beyond recognition as businesses changed hands, but every now and then you get the opportunity to help put a little bit of that history back.
That’s exactly what we’re doing in Holyhead. We’re carrying out restoration works to a number of the original shopfronts, while elsewhere we’re installing new timber shopfronts based on the surviving historic designs, helping to reinstate the original character of the street. The new shopfronts at the Market Buildings, 18 Stanley Street and 2 Boston Street have all been designed to complement the surviving Victorian examples and create a much more cohesive streetscape.
It’s one of those projects where the individual buildings look great, but it’s when you step back and look at the whole street that you really appreciate the difference.
