Grimsby Cenotaph Restoration
11th Jan 2019
Quadriga has been instructed to undertake repair works to Grimsby Cenotaph ahead of this year’s centenary Armistice Day celebrations.
The Cenotaph was unveiled on December 8th 1921 and was awarded Grade II listing on June 20th 1999. It commemorates all those who fought and were injured or killed in the First and Second World Wars.
Works will include:
Cleaning of the monument which is both marble and granite
Repointing of joints
Realigning the granite paving at the base of the monument
Making of a full lead capping over the top of the monument
Once the Cenotaph has been restored it will be carefully preserved so future generations can visit to pay their respects and reflect on the past.
